Three Short Hikes Near Hood River, Oregon with Gorgeous Columbia Gorge Views

Hiya, Squatch here.

If you’re visiting Hood River and want to enjoy the outdoors but still sleep in and drink your annoyingly precious human coffee, here are some short hikes with satisfying vistas.

Mitchell Point:

A steep 2.6 mile hike there and back. The trailhead is off State Route 84, exit 58. Lots of elevation gain so not kid or pet friendly.

Elowa Falls:

An easy 2.0 mile saunter. Trailhead is off exit 35 on State Route 84. Pet and kid friendly.

McCall Point:

A moderate 3.6 miler with a 1070 foot elevation gain.  It starts from the Rowena Crest Trailhead also off of State Route 84 taking exit 76. Dogs not allowed.

A great source of local hikes is a book called Curious Gorge

Even though I'm a Sasquatch and don't really like humans, I've become friendly with the owners of Lodge 902 --- they don't ask me bothersome questions. Sometimes I host at the Lodge and the guests tell me what they're up to. These blogs contain information that I'm garnering.

In my humble other-species opinion, Lodge 902 is the most unique place to stay in Hood River. The interior decorating is exquisite, the team is fantastic and the downtown location can't be beat. I'm a grump, so I don't get more positive than that last sentence.

Not looking forward to meeting you,

Squatch
